    The Netherlands in 2013 was the ninth Polish trade partner in terms of turnover. According to the estimates of the Ministry of Economy, the mutual trade between the Polish and the NL in 2013 reached a value of approx. 12.23 billion euro, representing approx. 3.97% of the total international trade in Polish goods. The value of Polish exports to the NL was approx. 6.15 billion euro, and the value of imports from the NL to the Polish amounted to approx. 6.07 billion. The positive balance of foreign exchange in 2013 amounted to approx. 70.5 million euro.

     

    The dynamics of trade growth in 2013 was negative and amounted to -1.5%. The growth rate of Polish exports to the NL was negative and amounted to -4.3%. The growth rate of the value of imports from the NL to the Polish was positive at 1.5%. Growth rate of trade in 2013 was the lowest since 2002 (with the exception of 2009 when the global economic crisis started).

     

    The dominant groups trademarks of value of exports from Polish to NL in 2013 were mechanical and electrical equipment (27.11% of total exports), mineral products, processed foodstuffs and beverages, vehicles and vessels, animal products and live animals, miscellaneous items, articles of metal, plastics and its articles, materials and textiles.

     

    The dominant group in terms of value of goods imported from the NL to Poland were mechanical and electrical equipment (27.2% share in total imports), chemical products, vehicles and vessels, plastics and its articles, vegetable products, metal products base, processed foodstuffs and beverages as well as live animals and products of animal origin.

     

    In the period 2000 - 2013 the mutual trade relations between the two countries have developed in a dynamic way. The value of Polish exports to the NL in 2013 in relation to 2000 increased more than 3.5-fold. Decline in the value of trade between the Polish and the NL could be observed only in 2009, when the Dutch economy recorded negative economic growth of -3.7% of GDP, which was caused by the global financial and economic crisis. The average growth rate of trade in the years 2000 - 2013 was 10.1% (exports 10.5%, imports: 9.9%). The average value of the dynamics in 2004-2008 amounted to approx. 17.5%, while in 2009-2013 amounted to approx. 5.3%.
