    Polish Ambassador in the Netherlands dr Jan Borkowski took part in the official commemoration ceremony and paid tribute to those who fell during the Battle of Arnhem at the military cemetery in Osterbeek.

    Annual commemoration at the Osterbeek military cemetery are a symbolic end of the series of commemorations in various places around Arnhem, which focus on preserving memory about the soldiers who gave their lives in the autumn 1944 in the fight against Nazi-Germany during the Battle of Arnhem, also known as Operation Market Garden.

     

    69 years ago Polish troops of the 1st Independent parachute Brigade of gen. Stanisław Sosabowski took bravely part in this battle and covered the withdrawal of Allied forces.
