    During the IV Review Conference for the Convention on Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (CWC) Permanent Representations of Poland and Lithuania to the OPCW organized on November 23 in The Hague the side event related to sea dumped chemical weapons, also in the context of a possible OPCW engagement.

    Discussion on this issue within the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) as well as its key conclusions were presented by professor Paula Vanninen of the Finnish VERIFIN. Commander Bartłomiej Pączek (PhD) of the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia delivered presentation regarding international cooperation in this field, takin also into account challenges related to the chemical weapons dumped at sea.

     

    The question of sea dumped chemical weapons is one of the issue promoted by Poland during the CWC Review Conference. In this context a joint working paper has been presented i.a. by Poland and Lithuania as an official document of the RevCon.
